At Interval House of Ottawa we do more than help women who have been abused. We want abuse to stop. Our dream is that one day there will no longer be a need for women’s safe houses to exist. We want to eradicate domestic violence altogether. That is why our Education Program exists.
Our Education Program focuses on outreach and prevention of domestic violence. As one of the first women’s safe houses in Ottawa to develop a program of this kind, Interval House of Ottawa sits on committees to advocate for gender equality and justice for women.
We attempt to enlighten and educate our residents and the community by offering presentations on healthy relationships and family violence. We have presented to schools, workplaces, religious institutions, men’s groups, focus groups, community group meetings, etc. Interval House of Ottawa actively works towards providing our community with a better understanding of violence and its impact in the hope that more education will lead to less tolerance for violence, thus less violence within the lives of women and their children.
