Interval House of Ottawa is delighted to be building its new location! The commitment of $3,050,000 from the Government of Ontario to help us create a more accessible space will allow us the opportunity to better serve women with children fleeing domestic violence in the Ottawa region.
This funding comes as the number of women fleeing violence exceeds the amount of space available in Ottawa. On average, Interval House of Ottawa turns away 2 women and their children daily due to lack of available beds, which is in line with the experience of other area women’s shelters across the City. Interval House of Ottawa looks forward to working with all levels of government to continue providing a safe haven for even more women in the Ottawa community.
We are extremely grateful for the support we’ve continued to receive from the community whether it’s been letters of support, donations or people calling us to find out how they can get involved.
Domestic violence knows no bounds and it is up to all of us to create safe spaces tailored to the diverse realities of women in Ottawa.
Although the provincial government is funding the construction of our new house, we must fundraise to furnish the home which is a costly enterprise. We are relying on our community to help us to fully realize our dream and we hope that you will be able to assist us with this project.
Interval House of Ottawa is looking for financial support in order to furnish the following rooms in our new home:
-Living Room
-Dining Room
-Kitchen
-Computer room
-Activity room
-Youth room
-Laundry room
-Playground
We need your help to furnish our new home—to create safe, warm and comfortable living spaces for the women and their children who are fleeing abuse. You have the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of our residents as they transition from very challenging circumstances and begin to heal: mind, body and spirit. If you think you can help or if you’d like more information please call us at 613.234.8511 ext.210.
